The Cook County Health Mural

The Cook County Health mural is a permanent public art commission created for the Blue Island Health Center, completed in 2023. Designed to bring warmth, color, and a sense of optimism to a healthcare setting, the mural transforms the space into a more welcoming and uplifting environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Rooted in community-centered design, the work reflects my interest in creating art that is both visually vibrant and emotionally resonant—art that supports healing, connection, and a stronger sense of place within shared public spaces

Public Art | Mural Proposal | Concept Development

Developed as a proposed public art installation, this mural concept explores the relationship between community, place, and visual storytelling. The design was informed by the project's location, surrounding environment, and the opportunity to create a meaningful visual experience within a shared public space.

Through preliminary research, sketches, and digital renderings, the proposal demonstrates an approach to large-scale mural design that balances artistic expression, site-specific considerations, and community identity.

The Leaf Trade Mural

Designed for Leaf Trade Co., this large-scale interior mural brings together Chicago’s architectural identity, technological innovation, and organic forms through a vibrant geometric composition. Inspired by the intersection of nature, commerce, and connectivity, the artwork incorporates elements of the city’s skyline, elevated transit system, botanical imagery, and abstract structural patterns.

Bold lines, layered shapes, and a contemporary color palette create a sense of movement and visual continuity throughout the workspace. The mural transforms the office environment into a dynamic expression of creativity and progress, reflecting the relationship between the city, emerging industries, and the communities that connect them.

Teaching Artist

Columbia College Chicago

Community Arts Partnerships (CCAP) | Arts Education, Creative Leadership & Mural Development

As a Teaching Artist with Columbia College Chicago’s Community Arts Partnerships (CCAP) after-school program, I led the creative direction, curriculum development, and execution of student-assisted mural projects throughout Chicago. I independently conceptualized and designed each mural, translating original artistic visions into structured, hands-on educational experiences that introduced students to professional mural-making practices.

Through direct instruction in painting techniques, color theory, composition, and visual storytelling, I guided students through each stage of the creative process. My teaching approach emphasized artistic exploration, technical development, collaboration, and creative independence, empowering students to build confidence in their abilities while contributing to large-scale public artwork.

Each semester culminated in a completed mural, demonstrating the successful integration of artistic leadership, project management, and arts education. Beyond the finished artwork, these projects created meaningful opportunities for students to develop practical skills, experience collective achievement, and recognize their own creative potential within their communities.
